Trade War Offers No End in Sight

Stocks ended in the red Friday after a week of wild point swings in the major averages as trade war worries resurface. President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday the U.S. is not ready to strike a trade deal with China. “China wants to do something, but I’m not doing anything yet,” Trump said. “Twenty-five years of abuse. I’m not ready so fast.”

“The reactions in the markets this week are maybe more of a realization that this trade war is not going to come to a quick end,” Chris Gaffney, president of world markets at TIAA Bank.
