Michael Nagle | Bloomberg | Getty Images In the previous trading session, stocks on Wall Street finished higher, as anxiety surrounding higher interest rates subsided. While U.S. government debt yields remained under pressure Monday, concerns around the future of the economy and monetary policy in the States keeps markets on edge.
The S&P 500 (SPY) popped 1.18% as stocks extend recent rally amidst rates stabilizing. S&P sector advancers led decliners 9 to 1. Technology (XLK) led the gainers with a 1.57% advance. Industrials (XLI), healthcare (XLV) and financials (XLF) also had 1%+ gains. Consumer discretionary (XLY), consumer staples (XLP), energy (XLE), materials (XLB) and real estate (XLRE) each had minor gains of less than 1%. Utilities (XLU) ended in the red by less than 1%.
The Dow Jones index added 399 points today settling at 25,709. The Nasdaq advanced 84 points closing at 7,421.
Stocks continued its recent rally as the 10 year bond yield fell from its 4 year high and stabilized. The Dow almost settled with a 400 point gain on the backs of industrial giants Boeing and 3M. The S&P 500 was helped by technology (XLK) and financials (XLF). The Nasdaq moved forward by more than 1% as Apple and Intel had 2% gains. The 10 year bond yield fell to 2.85%. Legendary investor Warren Buffett gave CNBC a 3 hour interview this morning.
