US stocks expected to rebound in the triple-digits, after Dow dropped almost 300 points

U.S. stock index futures turned positive ahead of Wednesday’s open, as markets tried to reclaim some footing after losing significant ground in the previous session. Around 5:30 a.m. ET, Dow futures rose 121 points, indicating a positive open of 124.79 points.

The S&P 500 (SPY) rose +0.17% today. Sector advancers led decliners 9 to 2 as shown below in the sector graph. Communication Services (XLC) +1.24% and real estate (XLRE) +1.08% led advancers higher. Consumer discretionary (XLY), consumer staples (XLP), energy (XLE), healthcare (XLV), industrials (XLI), technology (XLK) and utilities (XLU) each had small gains of less than 1%. Financials (XLF) and materials (XLB) each had minor losses of less than 1%.

The Dow Jones index dropped 42 points (-0.17%) to finish at 24,657. The Nasdaq reached an all time high gaining 55 points (+0.72%) to settle at 7,781.

Netflix Helping Nasdaq Reach New High

Netflix (NFLX) +2.9% and Facebook (FB) +2.3% helped lead the Nasdaq rise to all time highs. The Dow stretched its losing streak to 7 days, its longest since March of last year. Disney (DIS) raised its bid for Fox (FOXA), topping an offer from Comcast (CMCSA). German carmakers have met with the US Ambassador of Germany where they shared the idea of ending car tariffs between the US and the European Union.
