The S&P 500 (SPY) lost -1.22% this week. Sector decliners beat advancers 9 to 3 on a weekly basis. Consumer discretionary (XLY) -2.15% and technology (XLK) -2.15% led decliners down. Communication services (XLC), financials (XLF), industrials (XLI) and healthcare (XLV) each lost more than 1%. Consumer staples (XLP) and materials (XLB) each had small losses of less than 1%. Utilities (XLU) +2.94% and energy (XLE) +2.43% led advancers. Real estate (XLRE) posted a gain of +1.24%.

The Dow Jones index (DIA) lost -1.20% this week. The Nasdaq gave back -2.09%.
