Dow futures are pointing to yet another decline at the open

U.S. stock futures pointed to a negative Wednesday morning in the wake of Wall Street’s steep fall on Monday. On Tuesday evening, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were down 109 points, implying an opening decline of more than 195. S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures also pointed to negative moves for when the indexes open on Wednesday.

The S&P 500 (SPY) rocketed +4.96% higher today. Energy (XLE) led the tremendous rally with a +6.17% gain. Communication services (XLC), consumer discretionary (XLY) and technology (XLK) each increased by 5+%. Financials (XLF), healthcare (XLV), industrials (XLI) and materials (XLB) each gained 4+%. Real estate (XLRE) jumped 3+%. Consumer staples (XLP) added +2%. Utilities (XLU) gained 1+%.

The Dow Jones index advanced +1086 points (+4.98%) to close at 22,878. The Nasdaq had the best day among the 3 major averages, ending the day +361 points higher (+5.84%) to settle at 6,554.

Holiday Sales Boost Bear Market

Stocks had their greatest day in nearly 10 years as the Dow propelled almost 5%. The S&P also had a similar result, finishing in the green by nearly 5%. The Nasdaq finished the best among the 3 major indexes, popping over 5%. MasterCard (MA) reported retailers were having their finest holiday season in 6 years.
