Here is a daily recap of the S&P 500 broken down by sector followed by sector heat map as bond yields create wild stock movement. Dow futures lower amid lingering trade war concerns

U.S. stock index futures were lower Wednesday morning, amid simmering trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies. At around 03:10 a.m. ET, Dow futures slipped 42 points, indicating a negative open of more than 100 points. Futures on the S&P and Nasdaq were slightly lower.

The S&P 500 (SPY) gained +0.08% today. Sector advancers led decliners 9 to 2 as shown below in the sector graph. Materials (XLB) and consumer staples (XLP) led advancers higher with gains of more than 1%. Communication services (XLC), consumer discretionary (XLY), healthcare (XLV), real estate (XLRE), technology (XLK) and utilities (XLU) each enjoyed small gains of less than 1%. Financials (XLF) led decliners down with a -1.33% loss. Energy (XLE) and industrials (XLI) suffered a minor losses of less than 1%.

The Dow Jones index gave back 22 points (-0.09%) to close at 26,007. The Nasdaq added +29 points (+0.38%) to settle at 7,862.

Bond Yields Create Wild Stock Movement

Stocks rebounded from an almost 600 point drop Wednesday as a big drop in bond yields balance out off lows. The 10 year bond yield ended at around 1.72%, it touched below 1.6%, a 2016 low. The Chinese yuan also stabilized against the US dollar.
