Dow set to rebound triple digits, boosted by blowout Home Depot earnings and renewed trade talks

U.S. stock futures traded solidly higher in the premarket Tuesday, helped by a strong quarter for retailer Home Depot and reports of renewed trade talks between the U.S. and China. As of around 7:15 a.m. ET, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures indicated a higher open of nearly 133 points, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures were also in positive territory.

The S&P 500 (SPY) slipped -0.15% today. Sector decliners led advancers 6 to 5 as shown below in the sector graph. Energy (XLE) led decliners down with a -2.27% drop. Communication services (XLC), consumer discretionary (XLY), consumer staples (XLP), healthcare (XLV) and materials (XLB) each lost less than 1%. Financials (XLF), industrials (XLI), real estate (XLRE), technology (XLK) and utilities (XLU) each had minor gains of less than 1%.

The Dow Jones index lost 100 points (-0.40%) to close at 25,286. The Nasdaq was flat today, adding +0.01 (+0%) to settle at 7,200.

Wall Street Slump Continues Despite Renewed Trade Talks

Stocks continued to slump on Tuesday despite renewed trade talks with China. Oil prices fell more than 7% after President Trump urged OPEC not to cut oil production in order to raise prices.
